Junior Design Project
The model I am working with, Alex Madrid, has Cerebral Palsy and uses an electric wheelchair. He informed us that he has trouble using zippers and buttons due to mobility issues in his hands. He wants something business casual he can wear to his job, and specifically wants a dressier shirt. My partner and I have decided to create a nice button-up shirt for him with magnetic closures to replace the buttons. Alex said he has never tried magnetic closures on a piece of clothing, so he is curious to see how it works compared to velcro and other adaptable closures. The shirt is going to be in a neutral color so he can pair it with multiple pairs of pants and other garments in his wardrobe. As a junior at San Francisco State, I am excited to be apart of this project and expand my knowledge on design and fit so I can use these skills in the future.
