Sage Blomquist

Sage Blomquist, lives with ADHD, and mentioned that he constantly has thoughts that layer upon each other, making it difficult for him to manage tasks in an efficient way. Sage really wanted a garment that included multi-purpose details as well as features that would help him rather than further distract him.

Sage is an artist and gets inspiration from nature. Natural things we see in nature such as wood and flowers are a few objects that help him get into a creative mode. Sage also mentioned that he is an interior design major, with a hobby of producing functional art.

Keylla's Experience with the Project

My Disability project is to design a prototype together with the team designer name Jacqueline Gonzalez.

Our model is Sage Blomquist, the design team together with the model did design cool pants and overalls.

The models like both design ideas. The Design Model Sage Bloomquist spoke with the design team and told us about his measurements, clothing styles and preferences, fabric colors choices, and together we design his disability pants project.

The design team show the model the designers' mood board and one possible pants sketch. At the end of the meeting, the design team and the model agree on the design disability project pants or overall or combination. Also, we all agree on the neuter color for the pants.

My design is the pants with large pockets at the front, also the key feature design was the use of Velcro for closure or magnet snaps on the front pants. Why? We decided to use it for ease and comfort to put it on and to take it out of the body. Another thing is to keep a minimum design line to assist the classic style for the benefit of the model with disability.

The pants are simple, classic design with Velcro and large pockets, the main fabric is duck canvas, because it is sturdy to withstand the times.

Jackie's Experience with the Project

Bio for Disability Project - Jackie G.-2.png

As a senior at San Francisco State University, majoring in Apparel Design my main goals are to work as a costume designer and/or a photo shoot stylist for brands that I truly admire.

I would love to incorporate my dedication to sustainability into my future with fashion. Some of my favorite brands I keep up with are: Kapital, Hysteric Glamour, Engineered Garments, Noah NYC, Los Angeles Apparel, and many more. I also really love collecting one of a kind, vintage pieces, and incorporating them with modern clothing.

Since it can become a habit for Sage to easily forget things and get distracted easily, I wanted to include small, but beneficial details to his garment. For example, extra large pockets, a hammer loop, and loose fitting carpenter/ cargo style pants are something we took into consideration.

The extra large pockets will help him to carry multiple personal belongings anywhere, rather than being limited to a smaller amount. Hammer loops can be used to clip on a carabiner (for house keys, car keys, etc.) A loose-fitting pant will also provide comfort, with no distraction from an annoying tight fit. A neutral color will be preferred as well for quick styling and no stress when it comes to matching!
