My Story

When I was in fifth grade I got a sewing machine for Christmas and started following patterns + making dresses to wear to school. I had so much fun with it, and knew from there on it was something I wanted to continue to do in the future. I switched halfway through my time at SFSU to a concentration in Merchandising, and feel that it was the right decision for me, though I do work on some design projects in my spare time.

I think my favorite class was my Product Development course with Stephanie Currie, which I took last semester. One of my favorite projects we worked on was creating a piece of wearable technology and writing a report on it, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I put a lot of work and research into that project, and it is probably one of the pieces of work I am most proud of from my last 4 years. I took a lot from that class, and think what I took away from it will be beneficial for the work I do in the future, regardless of what it is.

The biggest takeaway from my time as an ADM major are the variety of tools I will take with me in order to accomplish my goals in the industry and the future. These courses have allowed me to expand my thought process into more of a creative perspective, in addition to teaching me the technical aspects as well.

After I graduate, I am going to move back down to San Diego and begin full-time work down there. I am potentially interested in getting a job as an editorial assistant, in order to get my foot in the door and work my way up to being an editor of a fashion / style magazine.
