My Story

My favorite course I took at SFSU was my English course. I explored my interest in the fashion industry and looked into the statistics revolving covid-19, including the struggles people went through to overcome the pandemic. I got covid-19 2 years ago and still experience symptoms. I have learned a lot through the pandemic and especially since I’m a student at SFSU I continue to become driven and focused on my goals and future.

As an ADM major I have learned so many things about the fashion industry. I have gained skills and produced projects I am proud of.

I am an advocate for sustainability. With reusing, deconstructing and recycling second hand materials. I would advise repurposing old archived stock of material as well as a focus on experimentation with unconventional materials. This will create something new.

The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 challenged the textile industry drastically, this has influenced the future of the fashion industry. The industry suffered a loss of around 70% of its exports to the European Union, the United States, and Japan. Natural fiber composites are lighter and stronger than conventional fibers, and are used in many ways. For instance, the automotive industry for interior and exterior applications, manufactured garments, apparel, construction materials, medical dressings, and interiors of automobiles, etc. The industry will be striving for a more sustainable future.
