This experience was very profound for me. I never really had the freedom to create my own piece of clothing. It was scary at first because I didn’t have the confidence to know whether or not I was making the right decision but as I progressed, I learned a lot about what does and doesn’t work. I also found that it is okay to make mistakes.

I started by disassembling an old shirt to use as a pattern. I then cut the denim jeans and used that as material for the jacket. It was at this point that I had to be okay with making a mistake and not be too attached to what I had created. I cut the bottom half of the jacket off and attached the bottom of a hoodie. I then used other pieces of the hoodie with the jacket because I like the combination of colors. Finally I added some detail with the white stitching.

Overall, I am proud of my creation.
